Features - Quilt Layout & Editing

Some of the features below are NEW to PCQ Designer V4.0, but many are also improved versions of features contained in V3.0. We have noted this to assist existing users in identifying what might be helpful to them in particular:

  • Help is a mouse or keyclick away! Use F1 for a popup hotkey menu, F2 to get a list of decimal to fraction conversions (to help you mark a quilt) or click on the "?" symbol for interactive help.
  • IMPROVED - the selection of tabs is now more intuitive and follows the Windows standard.
  • IMPROVED - Pattern placement and resizing is now accurate within 1/1000th of an inch - 10 times that of the previous version. Works with the PC Quilter hardware and software to produce patterns that sew much smoother.
  • NEW - Cut and paste capabilities with the light table. Capture and image to the clipboard and user Ctrl-V (Windows paste hotkey) to paste it as a light table image in PCQ Designer.
  • IMPROVED - Light table now supports multiple graphics formats including BMP, JPG, PNG,GIF, WMF, EMF and ICO.
  • NEW - Add multiple patterns at once.
  • NEW - Pass orientation control. PCQ Designer displays your patterns as they will look on your quilt, but with a click of a button will generate the pattern from where YOU want to sew. Your pattern will sew correctly after you turn your quilt!
  • NEW - Quilt Marking printout will tell you where to mark the starting point for each pass.
  • IMPROVED - Larger Preview display now fills your entire screen.
  • NEW - Full Sized Printouts available for Preview or Quilt Overview! Create Pantograph patterns or print your quilt FULL SIZE. PCQ Designer and your printers "tiles" the output so that it can be taped together to form the whole pattern at once!
  • IMPROVED - Clean-up now works full screen which gives you more room to edit.
  • NEW - Clean-up now lets you drag the edit area in the Overview image for better navigation control.
  • IMPROVED - Clean-up now sports an intelligent cursor that will follow you as you pan the image - whether with hotkeys or the Overview image.
  • IMPROVED - Save designs or passes as pattern files OR as DXF files! Exchanging patterns with Corel Draw and other graphics and CAD programs has never been easier.
